Christmas Carol

For some people, one of their favorite things about the season are the songs that we sing. Do you know why we sing Christmas carols?

Look up the origins of Christmas Carols. The song Silent Night has a particularly interesting history.

We also have another free giveaway today. Fr. Kevin Anderson has recently produced a new CD called HOPE; Vision for Soulfulness, a Self-Retreat. He has graciously given us two CDs to give away as part of our Advent calendar. On our Facebook page name your favorite Advent/Christmas carol to be entered into the drawing.

Today is also the first day of Las Posadas. Join the Latino community in your area for the nine days of religious observance based on the nine months that Mary carried Jesus in her womb. The posadas re-enact Mary and Joseph’s cold and difficult journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem in search of shelter; in Spanish, the word means “lodging.”

Quote of the Day:
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” ~Buddy, The Elf

Gospel of the Day: Matthew 21:28-32
