Dec. 19 – Third Week – Friday

template for Advent calendar_maryIn today’s Gospel reading we hear of Elizabeth being pregnant with John the Baptist. This is an unlikely pregnancy and even Zechariah doesn’t quite believe it at first. Does this announcement remind you of another older couple in the Old Testament (Abraham and Sarah perhaps)? Have you ever made an unlikely announcement? What was your reaction? Other reactions? We also hear the angel Gabriel tell Zechariah, “…which will be fulfilled at their proper time.” Is there anything in your life that you would like to happen in your timeline because it is difficult to wait for God’s timeline?

Activity: Do a simple random act of kindness today for someone you do not know; something completely unexpected. Here are some ideas.

Quotes of the Day: “God has perfect timing; never early, never late. It takes a little patience and faith, but its worth the wait.”

Joseph waited 13 years.
Abraham waited 25 years.
Moses waited 40 years.
Jesus waited 30 years.
If God is making you wait, you are in good company.
